Ukrainian tram manufacturer Tatra-Yug has completed the delivery of 15 high-floor trams ordered in February 2017 by Egypt’s Alexandra Passenger Transport Authority.
The two-section unidirectional trams are 22m-long and can carry up to 206 passengers. The maximum speed is 75 km/h.
The trams operate on the Raml line of Alexandria tramway, one of the oldest tram systems in the world.
The Egyptian government is rehabilitating the Raml line at a cost of €360m, partly funded by the European Investment Bank (€138m) and the French Development Agency (€100m).
